Martha Pyron, MD (Team Physician)

Dr Pyron is board certified in both family medicine and sports medicine. She obtained her medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, completed a residency program in Family Medicine at Southern Colorado Family Medicine, and pursued a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Michigan State University, Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies. After becoming board certified in both family medicine and sports medicine, she started her career as a team physician for Penn State University. She then returned to her home state of Texas and worked as a Sports Medicine Specialist and Team Physician for the University of Texas at Austin. Dr Pyron is currently the founder and president of Medicine in Motion, Martha Pyron MD.
Dr. Pyron has lived and worked in Austin for the last six years, and has developed extensive connections with specialized orthopedic surgeons, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, athletic trainers, strength trainers, and other healthcare professionals who provide excellent service. She enjoys working together as a team with a variety of healthcare professionals to provide customized and optimal care for her patients.
Although Dr. Pyron also has training and is board certified as a family physician, she prefers to limit her practice to sports medicine. This means that she wants you to maintain your relationship with your family doctor, but see her for sports injuries, training questions, or illnesses which affect your activity level. Please let her know how she may best help you!
In her off time, Dr Pyron enjoys a variety of outdoor and sports activities including soccer, softball, running, biking, mountain biking, strength training, yoga, swimming, and sailing.
Darcy L. Downey, EdD, ATC, LAT (Rehab Coordinator/Lead Athletic Trainer)

Darcy has been an athletic trainer for 18 years and has worked in setting such as high school, college/university and Women’s Professional Basketball as well as the clinic. She has taught in 3 accredited athletic training programs including The University of Texas at Austin and Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University). She is a graduate of Mankato State University (Minnesota), Stephen F. Austin State University and The University of Texas at Austin.
Molly Kidd, MA, ATC, LAT (Athletic Trainer)

Molly Kidd, MA, ATC, LAT is a nationally certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). She grew up in Altadena, CA but has been living all over the country for the past 7 years. Molly began college at University of Denver working with their Men’s Hockey team. She then transferred and graduated from University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. Her next move was to Tennessee Tech University where she earned her Master of Arts in Exercise Science studying shoulder injuries in baseball players and worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Football, Soccer and Softball teams. During her career as an Athletic Trainer, Molly has worked with a variety of athletes including D1 and D2, junior college, high school, and Paralympic athletes. She has also worked with a range of sports such as volleyball, lacrosse, hockey, skiing, baseball and many more. In the near future, Molly hopes to attain her Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification. When she’s not working, Molly enjoys mountain biking, photography, playing with her dog, and making up for lost time with her family here in Austin.
Lorena Yvette Gonzalez, ATC, LAT (Athletic Trainer)

Lorena Gonzalez, ATC, LAT, is a nationally certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). She was born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Austin. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a specialization of Strength and Conditioning in the spring of 2011. While studying as an undergrad, she has worked with a variety of sports and settings such as track & field, soccer, volleyball, football, as well as in high schools and physical therapy clinics. Lorena chose to pursue Athletic Training because of her passion for sports and helping others. In her spare time, Lorena enjoys running, weight lifting, Crossfit, and spending time with her family.
Brooke Webb-Gunning MS, RD, LD (Nutritionist)

Brooke Webb Gunning, MS, RD, LD is a registered and licensed dietitian specializing in sports nutrition, weight management, eating disorders, and medical nutrition therapy. She received a nutrition degree from UT Austin and completed her graduate degree at Texas A&M Kingsville. Brooke works with athletes and active people of all levels to improve health, increase energy, and maximize sports performance. She utilizes a "non-diet" approach with an emphasis on overall wellness to provide accurate nutrition information and realistic application strategies.
Colleen Straney, L.Ac.,LMT (Acupuncturist & Massage Therapist)

Colleen Straney, L.Ac.,LMT, received her master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin in 2008. She is nationally certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She specializes in many common syndromes such as acute and chronic pain, stress, anxiety, and depression. Colleen also has many years of experience as a body worker, and was an instructor in two massage therapy schools in Denver. She graduated from Crystal Mountain Massage Therapy school in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1995.
John Tuggle DC, ART, GT (Chiropractor)

Dr. Tuggle graduated in 1999 from Texas Chiropractic College. He is certified in Active Release Therapy (ART) and the Graston Technique. Our chiropractic care isn't just about cracking bones: it's about getting your body into the alignment needed to be in optimal health to pursue total fitness.
Vanessa Bonilla (Medical Assistant)

Vanessa Bonilla is a 2010 college graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in Biology. She hopes to continue her education by entering Physician Assistant School in the near future. Vanessa was born in Austin and grew up in Leander, Texas, where she graduated from Leander High School. She enjoys spending lots of time outdoors and plays a variety of sports with her favorite sports being soccer and volleyball.
Lisa Meecey RT(R) (Radiology Technologist)

Lisa Meecey is a Radiology Technologist and has just recently become a Texan. She moved here from Missouri where she has lived her entire life. The weather is one of the reasons she moved to Texas. She can't wait to have a mild and short winter. She played softball in college but loves all sports, especially snow and water skiing. Camping, fishing, and riding her motorcycle are a few of her most favorite things to do. She tries to go camping a couple of times a month. She loves getting back to nature and being outside as much as possible.
Lindsay Rohler (Medical Office Manager)

Lindsay Rohler specializes in medical office management with over 10 years of related customer service experience. Lindsay has always had a passion for motivating others to maintain healthy lifestyles which lead to her obtain a Physical Fitness Specialist Certification from the Cooper Institute in Dallas in 2002. She attended the University of Texas at Austin with the focus on physical education and sports medicine. Lindsay decided to specialize in medical office management because she experienced firsthand how difficult and frustrating injuries and illnesses can be without the help of a knowledgeable and caring provider. Lindsay has become an avid runner and enjoys participating in duathlons and triathlons. Lindsay is the proud mom of Matti (7 year old Terrier) and Pharaoh (3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback), and enjoys spending quality time with them , her husband, and her family.
Sally Schonefeld (Medical Office Assistant)

Sally Schonefeld received her bachelor's degree in Human Biology from Stanford University in June of 2010. She looks forward to attending medical school in the near future. Although a native to Texas, Sally is new to Austin. She is enjoying her time away from school by catching up with family and exploring all this great city has to offer. Sally's sports interests are diverse, but her current favorites include volleyball, tennis, and golf.
Stephanie Fluegge (Front Office Assistant)

Stephanie is a recent new comer to Austin. Born and raised in Florida, she attended college to study Paleoanthropology and other Biological Anthropology studies and now intends on steering her education towards Nutrition and Preventative Health sciences. Having close to six years of costumer related experience she enjoys the friendly and devoted employees and patients she gets to spend time with. When Stephanie isn’t working at Medicine in Motion she enjoys cycling, rock climbing, swimming, yoga, running, Ultimate Frisbee, and testing her golf skills at the driving range.

What is Sports Medicine?
Sports Medicine Specialists are physicians with a primary certification who obtain 1-2 years additional training in Sports Medicine through recognized fellowship programs.
